Hedgelaying
Transforming everything from domestic garden hedges to field boundaries, I take pride in laying hedges that are not only visually appealing but also serve a practical purpose for years to come
While my primary focus is in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, I have also worked on projects in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion
I Specialise in laying mixed native hedges in the Pembrokeshire style. However, I bring versatility to my work, having successfully laid hedges using a staked style, as well as laying formal beech, privet, and cherry laurel hedges
How much does it cost?
If the hedge is clear of fences, obstacles, and not a shared boundary, I provide a per-metre quote
For other situations, I’ll offer an estimate based on my day rate
In the case of shared boundaries, there’s typically a £20 admin fee for communication with the other landowner. However, if the process is straightforward, I may waive this fee.
Please feel free to contact me for a no obligation estimate or quote
The per metre scale below is applicable to jobs within Pembrokeshire and laying in the Pembrokeshire style. Please contact me to discuss charges for work outside Pembrokeshire or using a staked style

Benefits of Hedgelaying
- Enhanced Growth and Density
- Hedgelaying encourages new growth and increases hedge density, creating a fuller and more robust barrier
- Wildlife Sanctuary
- A laid hedge provides a great habitat for wildlife. Birds, insects, and small mammals find refuge in the dense foliage, contributing to a thriving ecosystem
- Soil Erosion Prevention
- The dense structure of a well laid hedge helps prevent soil erosion. This is crucial for maintaining soil fertility and preventing loss of valuable topsoil
- Shelter for Crops and Livestock
- Laid hedges create shelter that can protect crops and livestock from various weathers. Offering shade during hot days and shielding against cold winds in winter
- Carbon Sequestration
- Hedges play a role in carbon sequestration, capturing and storing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere
